Scientists from St. Petersburg have created an easy-to-use electroencephalograph, a multi-channel device used for non-invasive diagnostics and conducting highly informative research, for the remote Arctic region. With its help, it gives a chance to check the patient's condition without a specialized doctor. A prepared room is not required for it. Russian scientists say that electroencephalograph has no analogues in the world.

The device can help in detecting brain tumors, detecting overwork, and diagnosing epilepsy. The developers believe that an easy-to-use experimental development can solve the problem of inaccessibility of diagnostics in the Arctic zone of Russia with a small population density.

This device can be used in any environment. Unlike conventional electroencephalographs, the accuracy of its operation is not affected by surrounding metal objects and electrical appliances.

There is a mini supercomputer in this device. Andrey Stepanov, the programmer of electroencephalograph, has developed mathematical functions with a compact carrier – synthesized wavelets that can adjust to the type of signal.  Graduate students helped the specialist in the development of the corpus and programming.
