The Federal Cabinet of Germany has issued Arctic policy guidelines. The main topics in the document include climate and environmental protection, research, and cooperation with indigenous populations. As also seen in recent statements by Japan, Germany is, too, concerned about the growing Russian and Chinese presence in the Arctic and the modern international order.

Karelia hosted a congress devoted to the indigenous peoples of the Republic and promoting indigenous cultures. Based on the discussions, the Congress adopted a resolution on preserving the Karelian language and creating commissions for cultural and economic development within the Republic.

For the first time, the United Kingdom has issued direct sanctions against LNG tankers and organisations connected to Russian LNG projects, specifically Arctic LNG-2.
