Indian Sailors to Receive Ice Navigation Training

India and Russia have agreed to train Indian sailors for Arctic navigation at the Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University, the Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways reports.

Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and the Russian Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic also discussed Russia-India cooperation on the Northern Sea Route.

In addition, Sonowal recalled that India has proposed to hold a working seminar on the Eastern Economic Corridor project’s implementation in Chennai in October 2023.

We aim to engage parties interested in trade and transportation of goods such as coking coal, petroleum and liquefied natural gas, the Indian minister stated.
