The Interactive Atlas of the Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East project was presented at the Russian Academy of Sciences on 18 October.
The Interactive Atlas, a scientific and educational project, is a digital platform. It contains scientific data on historical, cultural, socio-anthropological, and linguistic diversity through informative, interactive maps, pictures, texts and beautiful drawings of indigenous costumes.
The Interactive Atlas offers insights into the Indigenous Peoples’ historical background, lifestyle, demographics, social situation and problems, food culture, spiritual culture, local traditions, and crafts.
To date, the Interactive Atlas includes information on 30 Indigenous Peoples and their 37 languages. The information about 10 peoples and their 13 languages will be added soon.
The Interactive Atlas is currently in Russian only, the English version will soon be available. However, it is possible to get an automatic translation into English, which works quite well.
