The issue of environmental safety is of priority importance for shipping along the Northern Sea Route (NSR), said the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport at the Primakov Readings Forum.

In addition, he also noted that the Northern Sea Route has a huge potential for world trade, with cargo turnover increasing every year.

Due to the Arctic environmental vulnerability, more attention to the NSR environmental protection is highly required.
