The Murmansk Commercial Seaport handles cargo for large-scale infrastructure projects in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
The first vessel processed under this programme is the general cargo Mikhail Britnev, owned by the shipping company Eco Shipping LLC, registered in Arkhangelsk. A batch of domed elements for liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks was loaded on board.
Let us remind you that the construction elements of LNG tanks are delivered to the Sabetta seaport, the Yamal peninsula. The facilities of Utrenny terminal for LNG and gas condensate are currently in operation under the Arctic LNG 2 project of the NOVATEK company - the key LNG developer in the Russian Arctic. It is believed that the construction of this terminal will increase the shipment of hydrocarbons for export in the amount of 21.6 million tons per year as part of the development of the Arctic LNG 2 project’s field.
The Murmansk Commercial Seaport is the only universal port beyond the Arctic Circle, which belongs to the National Transport Company. The port ensures year-round navigation for vessels with a displacement up to 200 thousand tons. The port facilities are designed for a wide range of bulk and general cargo, including large-tonnage and long-length cargo.
