It is now clear that the result of the election in the USA has become clear. And I would like to congratulate you on the result. We have of course eagerly awaited the election from our side
That's how it sounds from Greenland's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vivian Motzfeldt, after it became clear this morning that the new president of the United States will be Donald Trump.

Although the USA has a new president, and his name is Trump, Vivian Motzfeldt does not expect major changes in the relationship and cooperation between the USA and Greenland:
I fully expect that the good foundation we have built with the US will continue going forward, she says.
KNR has also spoken with the Greenlandic member of parliament, Aaja Chemnitz. It was a somewhat disappointed politician who spoke out after Donald Trump's victory:
It was a bit of an upset stomach this morning, I must be honest. There are many of us who had hoped that it would be Kamala Harris, she says.
She points out, however, that Greenland is used to cooperating with people who think a little differently.
And it is an American election, so it is the Americans who must choose their own president, and then we must be able to cooperate with that president, regardless of who it is, says Member of Parliament Aaja Chemnitz.
KNR has also reached out to the Greenland's Prime Minister (chairman of Naalakkersuisut), Mute B. Egede, to get a comment on the election in the USA. For the time being, we are awaiting a response.
