On 1 September, residents of Murmansk bid farewell to the Sedov as it embarked on another training voyage. The sailboat had moored at the pier of the Murmansk Sea Station on 23 August, giving everyone the opportunity to visit the legendary ship.

On the first day of autumn, the bark set off for the shores of Svalbard. Next, it will chart a course for Kronstadt. The crew of the sailboat included 111 cadets.

Maritime training areas have been in demand at all times, but today they are of special strategic importance for the whole country. Russia is actively developing the Northern Sea Route. Sea transportation is becoming key in organising the export of Russian products, and the number of civilian vessels and warships is growing.

To date, the Sedov Bark is the largest training sailboat in the world. Its length is 117.5 m, and the sail area exceeds 4,000 square metres.

Until the mid-1940s, the sailboat was under German jurisdiction, serving as a cargo and training vessel. After the end of World War II, it was transferred to the Soviet Union as war reparations and renamed in honour of the polar explorer Georgy Sedov. Future sailors of the Russian navy began to practise on the bark.

Recently, the Arctic Century wrote that Azerbaijan is tests the NSR.
