The third Youth Session EthnoPRO has ended after four days of successful planning. The session was dedicated to the creation of grant projects that support and develop the indigenous cultures of Karelia.

Over 30 activists took part in the forum held in Petrozavodsk. Over the course of four days, under the guidance of experienced mentors, more than ten different projects were developed and presented, with topics varying from community centers in rural settlements to the creation of indigenous musical instrument courses.

During the session, the participants got the chance to meet the employees of the publishing house Periodika and to learn about the publishing process of newspapers and books in Karelian, Vepsian and Finnish. The participants also got acquainted with the work of Ministry of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia, various non-governmental organizations and museums of the Republic.

The session organizer Alexandra Anufrieva emphasized that the main goal of the session was to engage young people and active citizens in preserving, popularizing and developing the indigenous cultures of the peoples of Karelia.

The participants and organizers of the session were quite pleased with the results. They hope that some of the proposed initiatives will become full-fledged grant projects in the future and will preserve the culture and languages of the indigenous peoples of Karelia.
