The Chinese transport and logistics company Torgmoll has launched a new trade route Arctic Express No. 1, connecting Arkhangelsk and Shanghai.
The route started from the Bely Rast railway station near Moscow. It will go through Arkhangelsk and then, by sea, to Shanghai. The route is 745 miles long by rail and 6,600 nautical miles by water.
Cargo transportation between Russia and China will be accelerated due to the new route. The journey from Arkhangelsk along the Northern Sea Route to the main Chinese ports of Shanghai and Ningbo will take 20-25 days.
Upon arrival in Arkhangelsk, the goods will be delivered by rail to St. Petersburg and Moscow. In 2024, it is planned to carry more than 20 thousand containers along the corridor.
The agreement on increasing container turnover through the NSR between Torgmoll, the government of the Arkhangelsk Region and the Arkhangelsk Commercial Seaport was signed in May this year.
