Turkish Scientists Visit Pyramiden

Arktikugol has been informed that on 21 July, participants of the Turkish scientific expedition TASE arrived in the town of Pyramiden in Svalbard. The purpose of the visit is to explore the potential of the town as part of the establishment of an international scientific and educational centre.

Turkish scientists were shown the technological, industrial, and domestic infrastructure of Pyramiden. During the meeting, issues regarding logistics in the Svalbard archipelago and the life of scientists in one of the northernmost settlements on the planet were discussed.

It has also been clarified that following the results of the visit, TASE participants and the Trust will continue their cooperation in a number of areas.

The Russian Scientific Centre in the Svalbard archipelago has been operating since 2016 and unites research organisations from various departments. Its main task is to comprehensively study the natural environment in the archipelago and in the waters of the Arctic Ocean.
